Equipping new managers with core leadership skills

The opportunity

Schroders, a large multinational business, wanted to align and enhance their leadership culture across the globe. They had designed core leadership competencies and needed training to bring these competencies to life. Their goal was to equip new managers with knowledge, skills and mindset to effectively lead teams. Schroders also wanted to ensure that the programme maximised impact, and had processes to measure progress and behaviour change.

The solution

Through close collaboration with Schroders, we developed and delivered a comprehensive programme across 14 cohorts. Ahead of the programme, participants were required to fill out a self-assessment, gather feedback from their team and identify focus areas. The training consisted of 8 workshops, run either in person or virtual. Key workshop themes included: coaching high-performing teams, cascading the business strategy, creating an inclusive culture, promoting wellbeing, and nurturing long-term career development. Following the programme, all cohorts had a focus session with the Higson team to evaluate progress against their leadership goals and discuss ongoing challenges.

increase in confidence in leadership skills throughout the programme

There was no module that I did not enjoy and find useful. The structure was excellent, with subsequent modules building on each other and reinforcing previous lessons. The most useful aspect of the programme was how well the various elements tied into each other, presenting a holistic and thorough introduction to management. The class size and delivery of the training were just right too, encouraging active participation and maximising the value one could get from the sessions
