Improving Opus’ onboarding process

The challenge

As Opus were welcoming new members to their team, they wanted to re-evaluate and improve their onboarding processes to make new starters of the team felt supported and excited to begin their journey at Opus.

The solution

We reviewed Opus’ internal onboarding documents and processes, and spent time with different members of the Opus leadership team to better understand their needs and goals. From this, we produced a comprehensive recommendation report to standardise the Opus onboarding process, providing suggestions to give new starters more consistent support and coaching. We also helped Opus develop an ‘induction pack’ to support their new starters.

Alongside this, we designed and delivered a bespoke onboarding training programme on themes such as productivity, presentation skills, and living the company values. We shared practical tools where individuals had a chance to practice, share ideas, and to be able to act as a support system to each other as they began their Opus journey together.

The impact

The Opus leadership team have found the recommendations helpful and have begun to implement them to help support members of the team joining in the new year. Many of the group who attended the training programme also expressed that it was what they liked most about their first 6 months at Opus, and they learnt relevant and practical skills from the training which also allowed them to build rapport with other new starters and learn from each other.

thought the content was organised and easy to follow

agree that they are taking away tools that will help them in their role

Many thanks for a very clear recommendation report - and some useful food for thought. I think your conclusions make much sense
